Curious by nature.
Building with intent.

I'm Daksh Mavani — an Electronics and Communication Engineering student focused on RTL design and FPGA implementation. I design datapaths, FSMs, and SoC peripherals in Verilog and SystemVerilog, and take them through synthesis, timing, and onto real hardware.

THE DIRECTION

Working toward a career in RTL design through hands-on builds, timing-aware design, and curiosity.

01 / THE WORK SO FAR

Experience in RTL.

Two 2026 internships, one on an AI accelerator datapath and one on a RISC-V SoC, both implemented on iCE40 FPGAs with open-source tools.

AI Accelerator RTL Design Intern

KLE TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY · TECHXCELERATE 2026 · BELAGAVI

  • Designed a 4x4 weight-stationary systolic array (signed INT8 inputs, 32-bit accumulation) in SystemVerilog with parameterized modules for the PE, PE array, weight loader, activation skew, output collector, and control FSM.
  • Pipelined multiply-accumulate datapath with diagonal activation skew and FSM-controlled preload, compute, and drain phases; one 4x4 multiply completes in 18 clock cycles (1.5 µs at 12 MHz).
  • Implemented on iCE40UP5K (VSDSquadron FPGA Mini) with Yosys and nextpnr at 12 MHz, with a UART interface, power-on reset, and cycle counter; 16 multipliers mapped to LUTs since the array exceeds the 8 DSP blocks.

RISC-V SoC and FPGA IP Development Intern

VLSI SYSTEM DESIGN (VSD) · VIRTUAL

  • Designed and integrated 3 memory-mapped peripheral IPs (GPIO, Multi-Register GPIO, PWM) into a custom 32-bit RISC-V SoC in Verilog RTL, with 8+ control, status, and data registers and SoC-level address decoding.
  • Achieved timing closure at 20.34 MHz across CPU, memory, UART, GPIO, and PWM subsystems; 1,638 logic cells (31% utilization) and 16 BRAM blocks on iCE40UP5K.
  • Debugged bring-up issues (reset sequencing, MMIO errors, memory initialization, pin conflicts) and validated peripherals with C firmware and UART tests.

Design and Verification of a 4x4 Systolic Array on VSDSquadron FPGA Mini

A 4x4 INT8 matrix multiplier (C = A x W, 32-bit accumulation) deployed on iCE40UP5K with a UART host interface. Checked with self-checking testbenches at PE, array, and top level, a cycle-accurate Python golden model, and on-board tests against NumPy. Phase 2 (planned): a larger parameterized array, SB_MAC16 DSP mapping, and continuous matrix streaming.

05 / OUTSIDE THE LAB

Other ways I learn.

Engineering is my main professional pursuit. Podcasting and running are the side quests that help me practise communication, curiosity, and consistency.

SIDE QUEST / 01 · PODCASTING THE
CONVERSATION.

The Daksh Mavani Show

I host conversations with people whose experiences and ideas can teach us something. Creating the show is also a hands-on education in research, interviewing, storytelling, and publishing consistently.

SIDE QUEST / 02 · RUNNING ONE MORE
KILOMETRE.

Progress, one run at a time.

Distance running gives me another way to practise patience, discipline, and consistency. I value the process: show up, follow the plan, recover, and come back ready to learn.

06 / RIGHT NOW

Currently focused on verification.

I'm working on the verification side of digital design, strengthening my approach to testbenches, assertions, simulation, and debugging. Outside engineering, I'm developing the podcast and staying consistent with running.
